Helping Ajad Ali Walk Towards a Better Future BSAR Foundation successfully completed a prosthetic limb support project for Ajad Ali, a young man from Siwan, Bihar. Ajad needed a prosthetic limb to improve his mobility and become more independent in his daily life. With support from BSAR Foundation, he was brought to Delhi for the required prosthetic limb assessment, fitting and rehabilitation support. The Journey to a New Beginning For Ajad, getting a suitable prosthetic limb was an important step towards improving his mobility and confidence. Prosthetic Limb Fitting The prosthetic limb was carefully fitted and adjusted according to Ajad's requirements. Taking the First Steps After receiving the prosthetic limb, Ajad began adapting to it with the support of a walking aid. The goal was not simply to provide a prosthetic limb, but to give him an opportunity to improve his mobility and move towards greater independence. BSAR Foundation organized a village cleanliness drive to promote a clean, healthy, and hygienic community environment. As part of the initiative, volunteers actively cleaned village streets, public areas, drains (nala), and other commonly used spaces. Garbage, waste, and accumulated dirt were removed with the help of cleaning tools such as brooms and other equipment. The campaign aimed not only to improve the cleanliness of the village but also to encourage local residents to take responsibility for maintaining clean surroundings. Through community participation and awareness, BSAR Foundation promoted better hygiene, sanitation, and environmental responsibility. A Difficult Accident Changed His Life A few years ago, Ajad Ali's life changed after a serious accident that resulted in the loss of his leg. Coming from a financially struggling family in Siwan, Bihar, Ajad was not only dealing with the physical challenges caused by the accident. He was also an important source of support for his family. Before the accident, Ajad worked hard to earn a living by selling vegetables. His work helped him support his family and manage their everyday needs. After the accident, however, everything became much more difficult. Without proper mobility and with limited financial resources, even meeting basic needs such as food and daily household expenses became a serious challenge for the family. Ajad Ali during a difficult phase of his journey,before receiving the newly fitted prosthetic limb. When a Family's Struggle Reached BSAR Foundation BSAR Foundation came to know about Ajad's situation through its members and local network. Before taking any action, the case was verified through the foundation's members to understand Ajad's circumstances and the support he genuinely required. After verification, BSAR Foundation decided that Ajad needed help not only with his immediate medical and mobility needs, but also with rebuilding his ability to support himself and his family. The foundation therefore took up the responsibility of helping Ajad access the prosthetic limb treatment he needed. From Siwan to Delhi for Treatment Ajad was brought to Delhi so that he could receive the required prosthetic limb assessment, fitting and related support. For someone already facing financial difficulties, travelling to another city for treatment can itself be a major burden. BSAR Foundation helped coordinate his treatment journey and the necessary arrangements so that he could receive the prosthetic support he needed. For him, this was not simply a medical intervention. It was a step towards regaining mobility, confidence and the possibility of becoming more independent in his daily life. But Treatment Is Only the Beginning Getting a prosthetic limb can change a person's mobility, but for someone like Ajad, there is another important question: How will he earn a living and support his family now? Before his accident, Ajad depended on his work to meet his family's daily needs. His physical condition after the accident made earning a regular income extremely difficult. That is why BSAR Foundation does not want Ajad's journey to end with the completion of his treatment. The foundation is now working towards arranging a suitable livelihood opportunity for him so that he can gradually become financially independent and support his family again. Ajad with members and supporters who stood beside him during his journey. From Medical Support to Livelihood Support Ajad's story highlights an important reality: medical treatment is sometimes only the first step towards rebuilding a person's life. A prosthetic limb can help restore mobility, but sustainable independence also requires the opportunity to earn. BSAR Foundation's goal is therefore to support Ajad beyond his treatment by helping him find a practical way to earn a living according to his abilities and circumstances. This approach is at the heart of meaningful social support not simply helping someone through one difficult moment, but helping create a path towards a more stable future.
